YuGiOh logo

"Life consist not in holding good cards, but in playing those who hold well."
- Josh Billings

Are you familiar with Yugi Muto, Joey Wheeler and Seto gayKaiba? They are the first coolest YuGiOh duelist in the world. Did it ever come to your mind to be one of them?

Playing YuGiOh always comes with many emotions like; feeling nervous, pleasure, and disappointment. In every victory there is joy and happiness; in every defeat always carries a lesson.

In dueling, intelligence is important in every moves, strategies and decision you are going to make.

Deck of cards
Duelists are using YuGiOh trading cards which are categorized basically by; Monster cards, Spell cards, and Trap cards. And in advance categories there are; Fusion monsters, Synchro monsters, and the latest XYZ monsters.
(from left to right) Monster card, Spell card, Trap card
(from left to right) Fusion monster, Synchro monster, XYZ monster

Want to become a great YuGiOh duelist? Then you should know first how to play and win a duel.First, observe and study how the game circulate. Learn how to use each of your cards strategically. "Attack!," "Activate!," "Effect!," "Draw!," "Destroy!."These words that we usually hear from YuGiOh anime series are the basic moves that a player can do while dueling. In reality, players do not shout or even speak, because players can understand each other automatically.

Here are some easy steps in how to play YuGiOh.

Each player's deck must be shuffled by their corresponding opponent for play. Then decide who goes first by flipping a coin, playing rock-paper-scissors or roll a die.
Ways in picking the first player

Then, draw five cards from your main deck. If you go first you have a total of 6 cards in hand and your opponent will gain his 6th card on his turn.

Actual drawing of cards
Start playing your cards by placing those cards in corresponding locations.

Actual positioning of cards on its corresponding position
Your deck goes in the right side of second row, with the extra deck zone (where you can place fusion, synchro, and XYZ monsters) at the left side of the row. At the top rows, field card zone is on the left side and the graveyard (for discarded cards) is on the right side. The middle five slots for the top row are for monster cards and the bottom row are for spell and trap cards.

Actual duel
On your turn, you need first to draw a card from your deck. Then do “stand-by phase”, the phase that you can think of what you need to do in the whole turn. Then take “main phase 1”, the phase where you can summon monsters, use spell cards and trap cards (these cards cannot be use in the same turn as they put down). After that, you are now ready for battling. (insert photo main phase)

In “battle phase” you can attack your opponent’s monsters using your monster cards and calculate the damage and life points (Life points are the health/life of your opponent, begin at 8000).

After battling, you can now proceed to your “main phase 2”, the phase where you can do the same thing at your “main phase 1”. After that, you can now enter to your “end phase”, and then your opponent will take their turn.

Now, here is a video interview with one of the students in Bachelor in Communication Research, Liam Camba, who's also a YuGiOh duelist. He will tell us about his own experiences in playing YuGiOh.

Playing YuGiOh can be in lined with Defense of the Ancient (DOTA), Special Force (SF), Counter Strike and other cyber games by which interest most youth nowadays. Being engaged with these kind of habits is fine as long as you know how to prioritize things around you.

"We don't stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing."

Revealed: Porkie Tax Eater

Janet Napoles is the primary and the heaviest scam person behind this Pork Barrel and most of all government officials are suspected to be involved in this case.

It was disclosed in the COA report that the general performance of utilizing PDAF is not good and organized. Aside from Senator Janet Lim Napoles, there were other government officials who were alleged to be involved in the Pork Barrel Scam.

How heartbreaking it is to know that until now, our government is still run by self-centered and greedy leaders. Officials prioritizing their selfish agenda and compromising the justice and change that our country is yearning for, many years from now.

PDAF was made in order to provide fair and systematize support for the projects that officials planned for the welfare of the people. Sadly, the spirit of evil still tries to sabotage our government. Selfishness and dishonesty continues to cover the truth. Certain conspiracies and anomalies regarding the funds released,  un-existing NGO offices, and illegal projects are some of the issues raised in the PDAF.

Once and for all, I think it’s just better to that Pork Barrel should be abolished and pursue transparency inside the system of the government.

It’s more FANS in PUP

Aside from a cold ice water, a fan could be a great help through times of severe hotness.

Base on PUP students' experience, there are little chances where in the feeling of freshness and cleanliness you feel when you are still at home, would still be the same feeling you will feel when you arrive at your work place?

A PUPian who is riding a PNR as transportation to go to school said that for five days in a week he travel from Taguig to his beloved school through PNR (Philippine National Railroad).

PNR offer 10 peso ticket for each ride from Bicutan to Sta. Mesa, and 15 peso from Alabang to Sta. Mesa, which is why many commuters in around Manila patronize PNR. Because of this, PNR becomes a can of tuna every rush hour and as a commuter you need to endure the hotness (siksikan) every morning.

Fans are useful for us even in just simple ways.

Useful Bruised

A banana is an edible fruit produced by several kinds of large herbaceous flower plants of the genus Musa (In some countries, bananas used for cooking may be called plantains.) (www.wikipedia.com)

Bananas are variable in size, color and firmness, but is usually elongated and curved, with soft flesh rich in starch covered with a rind which may be green, yellow, red, purple, or brown when ripe. The fruits grow in clusters hanging from the top of the plant.

A bruised banana is not a trash; it can be use in producing banana chips because it increases the sweet taste of chips. And it is a delicious delicacy that can be found here in the Philippines. It is still useful most especially as a fertilizer on an agricultural soil such as; farm, garden, and other soil that plants can live.

Agriculture in the Philippines is rapidly dropping down because of the increasing of prices of the market products. Also because of the flash floods, people who only rely on their agricultural jobs will more affected compare to people who bought products came from agriculture; they can buy to other agricultural product distributors.

Little Destruction

A plastic bottle is a bottle constructed of plastic. Plastic bottles are typically used to store liquids such as water, milk, ink etc. The size ranges from very small sample bottles to large carboys. (Wikipedia)

A plastic bottle is like a mirror of life, when you look through the bottle, you can’t see anything, its blur when it is full. Any destruction in nature you do will be done without seeing any effects. But later when the bottle is empty, you clearly see the effects and realize your faults and unfortunately it was too late to apologize because the damage has been done.

A tiny plastic bottle can do something good and something bad in our society, when this tiny plastic bottle continue to thrown away after using, it will produce pollution, and a pollution can harm people especially little children. It may destroy our Ozone layer because of the green house effect produced by plastics and other things that contain carbon. UVR or Ultra Violet Rays can be the causes of some skin cancers through direct expose on it.

A little plastic bottle thrown anywhere, the world would probably pollute and soil became too weak causes of flash floods, landslide and worse, animal and plant poisoning.

Circular Memory

A bottle cap seals the top opening of a bottle.

A plastic bottle cap is just a trash but when you see it imaginatively, you realize that its circular shape is like our lives. We know this concept are too “GASGAS” but the fact that the cycle of life, there is always a top and bottom, a top when we are in success and victory but unfortunately there is always a bottom, when we were lost and defeated.

But suddenly, when I look at the brand name of the plastic bottle cap, it’s a “Mountain Dew”, the soft drink that I always drink before go home after classes. A remember when first time I enter PUP, I go to the canteen to eat my lunch after I get my PUPCET permit. I bought Mountain Dew and Buy 1 Take 1 burger for only 20 pesos. So every time I saw or encounter the word Mountain Dew, I always remember my first entrance in PUP.

Even if this little plastic bottle cap is a trash, but still, it reminds me on a something happened before.

Smoke Devastation

A cigarette is a small cylinder of finely cut tobacco leaves rolled in thin paper for smoking

The cigarette is ignited at one end and allowed to smoulder; its smoke is inhaled from the other end, which is held in or to the mouth and in some cases a cigarette holder may be used as well. Most modern manufactured cigarettes are filtered and include reconstituted tobacco and other additives. (Wikipedia)

A single cigarette stick may be the reason of destruction of our lives. Most of the time, minors who more exposed in area that has smokers have the larger chance to become like them. They don’t care on what should be the effect of these cigarettes to their lifestyle, relationship to others and especially our health.
Students who totally addicted on cigarette smoking have the higher risk to become slothful in studying. Sometimes they tend to leave the class (cutting class) in able to use smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol together with their indolent classmates. Some are only go to school to have their allowance and buy some cigarettes and other what they want without attending the classes.

These cigarettes would probably ban to the school and sari-sari stores near the schools, most especially on elementary and high schools. Even if there is sin tax law executed in the Philippines, the population of smokers is not decrease, but instead, increases throughout the years. These smokers should quit so that future generation couldn’t adopt their smoking habits.
